Only the newer MacBooks, which use Intel chips, can run all three- Mac, Windows, and Linux.

What version of the MacOS is pre-installed on the PowerBook G3 models? What versions of the MacOS do the PowerBook G3 models support? Can they all boot MacOS 9? What is the maximum supported version of MacOS X?
All PowerBook G3 models are capable of booting MacOS 9, and by default, each came with MacOS 9 or earlier pre-installed. With the exception of the original PowerBook G3 -- which can only run MacOS 9.1 as its maximum operating system -- each PowerBook G3 is capable of booting a version of MacOS X that also is capable of running MacOS 9 applications in the 'Classic Environment'. However, the maximum supported version of MacOS X varies for each line.

Can the PowerBook G3 run Windows?
The PowerBook G3 series is capable of running Windows through emulation using a program like Microsoft Virtual PC 6.1, but it cannot boot Windows or run Windows via virtualization like the Intel-based Macs.
If you need a system capable of running Windows, you would be best served with an Intel-based Mac or a Windows PC.
